Harford County, the Gateway to the Chesapeake Bay, has it all, from 22 acres of enchanting flowering plants and sculptures at the Ladew Topiary Gardens in Monkton to the waterfront wooden promenade in historic Havre de Grace. If you continue walking on the promenade you will soon get to the Concord Point Lighthouse, where you can climb one of the few lighthouses on the East Coast still functioning and enjoy the view. There is also the century-old Palladian-style Liriodendron Mansion in Bel Air known for its majestic elegance. And baseball fans won’t want to miss the Ripken Museum in Aberdeen, honoring hometown hero Cal Ripken Jr. Harford County has a population of 220,000.
